Gutenback does not require shell access, exec(), or mysqldump — the database dump is pure PHP.
Install from a ZIP
- In WordPress, open Plugins → Add Plugin.
- Select Upload Plugin and choose the Gutenback ZIP.
- Select Install Now, then Activate.
After activation
A Guten Backup menu item appears in wp-admin. Nothing runs automatically until you connect Google Drive — see Quick start.
Update and uninstall
Replacing plugin files never touches your Google Drive connection, schedule, retention, or backup history — those live in the database. Deleting the plugin removes that bookkeeping and local backup storage, but never deletes anything already uploaded to your own Google Drive.
